The search for the 2010 Championship Boerewors is on!

Eighty-three regional winners in the Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors Competition were announced at regional rounds held at selected locations countrywide on Saturdays, 14, 21 and 28 August.

Regional winners each won R1200 Shoprite or Checkers meat vouchers and gift hampers from Coca Cola, All Gold and Simba, and will all compete in the provincial round which will be held on Saturday, 18 September.

The competition ends on Saturday, 2 October when ten provincial winners get together at Sun City for the grand cook-off to establish who will wear the 2010 Boerewors Crown.

The 2010 winning recipe will be on the shelves of all Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores by 14 October.

Shoprite Checkers is renowned for the excellent quality of the meat available at their Meat Markets and they are continuously looking for new recipes and ideas in order to offer customers the best. The group presents the Championship Boerewors challenge annually to assist them in achieving that goal.

Entertainer extraordinaire and passionate food-legend, Nataniël, shares the Shoprite and Checkers passion for South Africa’s culinary traditions and he is very excited about the prospect of finding yet another exceptional traditional boerewors.
