Product Information
The world's most well-known and widely used herbal bitters brand. In 1824, a German doctor named Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert established a military hospital in the Venezuelan town of Angostura to treat stomach ailments and indigestion. This bitters is great when added to cocktails, and is even better after a meal used as a digestif.
In comparison to certain bitters, it is a dark reddish brown colour with a thin, free-flowing texture. On the nose, there are cloves, cinnamon and some floral citrus notes. On the palate, it is rather aromatic, though not as complex as some. Clove, gentian, cinnamon, angelica root, with quinine undertones, are the most prominent flavours.
