Lighter summer cuisine like spicy prawns, Portuguese sardines and salads with red fruits like watermelon, raspberries, strawberries and pomegranate pair well with De Grendel Rosé. This bright and youthful wine is best savoured young, when it is still fresh and crisp.
The wine is made up of 50% Pinotage, which is known for creating exquisite fruit-driven Rosé, and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, which adds structure and acidity. Before destalking and crushing, grapes were selected at 20°B to 22.5°B. Allowing for one to two hours of skin contact, followed by settling and racking before cold fermentation at 14°C, provides for a lighter type of wine.
