Product Information
In 2017, mild cold nights combined with much-needed rain resulted in disease-free grapes with outstanding concentration and acidity, as well as a 15% increase in crop output over the previous vintage. The tasting and analysis indicate that this is a great vintage with outstanding acidity.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are nourished by well-drained blue fractured shale soil high up on the western slope of the Tygerberg, about 200 meters above sea level, barely 7 kilometres from, and in sight of, the Atlantic Ocean. A typical harvest with the VSP trellis method yields 7-8 tons per acre. This wine is deliciously crisp and fresh right now, but it has the potential to age nicely for 3 or 4 years, resulting in a deeper, richer wine with more integrated acidity.
