Welcome The Good Bugs to Your Little Garden

Good bugs like ladybirds, parasitic wasps, bees, spiders and hoverflies will all help your garden grow, so it would be great to make a home for them.

These good bugs like to hide away in your garden. You can create a little bug hideaway by following these steps:

Step 1: Cut off the end of a plastic bottle with the help of an adult.

Step 2: Put sticks, twigs, pine cones and small pieces of bark in the bottle.

Step 3: Place your bug hideaway close to your Little Garden in semi-shade.

Step 4: Grow nectar-rich flowering plants such as cornflowers close to it – the cornflowers’ nectar will attract butterflies, bees and moths.

Know Your Bugs

We think ladybirds are the cutest garden insects! Their babies eat the bugs that usually feed on vegetables. That’s why they’re good to have on your side to protect your Little Garden.

Bees work really hard, and help with the fruiting of vegetables, tree fruits, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, cherries and more.

And did you know that nematodes are soil dwelling parasites that seek out insects which are harmful to garden plants, shrubs and trees? These worms are harmless to plants and people. They’re good for your soil and they never prey on earthworms.
