Seared Rib-Eye Steak

Description

Zola Nene’s master tip for the perfectly seared steak is unconventional but the results are incredible! Take our perfectly matured Steakhouse Classic 1kg Rib-Eye Steak and start by searing it in a cold pan for crispy, deliciousness. 

Directions

1. Season the steak with salt and pepper. 

2. Cook in a cold pan, fat side down to render the fat.

3. Then sear the flesh side and drain off the fat (save for making roasties). 

4. Add a large knob of butter, fresh thyme and garlic and then pan roast the steak, basting with butter for a few minutes. 

5. Then finish off in the oven for 8 – 10 minutes at 200 °C.

  • 1 kg Steakhouse Classic Rib-Eye Steak on the Bone
  • Salt and pepper
  • 100 g butter
  • 6 sprigs of thyme
  • 2 garlic cloves; slightly crushed
