Description

Flex your home barista skills and make The Ultimate Caramel Cold Brew. All you need is Starbucks Americano Coffee Capsules, diary-free Simple Truth Almond or Oat Milk, a couple of ice cubes and our DIY caramel sauce. What you get is an icy caffeinated drink with the delicious sweetness of caramel.

Directions

1. Make your Starbucks espresso with the Americano capsules and refrigerate to make your cold brew. We recommend 2 capsules for this recipe.

2. To make the caramel sauce, add the sugar and water to a saucepan and let the sugar dissolve over a low heat.

3. Once the sugar has dissolved, increase the heat to medium-high and continue to cook until the syrup turns a caramel colour.

4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the cream. Stir it in quickly while it bubbles. Cook for another 2 minutes while continuing to stir consistently.

5. Remove from the heat again and add the butter and vanilla essence.

6. Allow the caramel sauce to cool to room temperature.

7. Line your glass with your caramel sauce and add your ice cubes.

8. Add your almond or oat milk and then fill up with your cold brew.

9. Give it a swirl and enjoy.

 

Tip:  You can store the caramel sauce in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.

Ingredients

  • 2 x Starbucks Americano Coffee Capsules
  • 1L Simple Truth Unsweetened Almond/Oat Milk (or milk of your choice)
  • Ice cubes

 

For the Caramel Sauce:

  • 300 g white sugar
  • 125 ml cream
  • 70 g unsalted butter
  • 125 ml water
  • 5 ml vanilla essence
