Directions

1. Divide boerewors into four equal pieces, then roll to form mini boerie coils, use a wooden skewer to secure.

2. Cook boerewors on the braai or as desired. Set aside to cool.

3. Cut four circles out of each pastry sheet, save off cuts for decorating later.

4. Spread cream cheese (leaving a space around the edge) onto four of the circles, top with chakalaka, then wors, then cheese.

5. Brush edge with egg wash, then top with the other pastry. Crimp edges with a fork to seal, then brush the top with egg wash. Decorate as desired with the pastry off cuts, then egg wash again.

6. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 20 - 25 minutes, or until pies are golden brown and the pastry is cooked through.

7. Leave to stand for 5 minutes before serving.

  • 250g sweet chilli cream cheese
  • 2 cups chakalaka (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg; whisked
