Boerewors, Cheese & Caramelised Onion Sausage Rolls by Zola Nene

Description

When you’ve got a small army to feed or just have a serious appetite, these boerewors sausage rolls are a great go-to. They’re packed with flavour and feature our Championship Boerewors.

Directions

1. Remove the casings from the Championship Boerewors.

2. Cut the pastry in half, lengthways.

3.  Spoon onion onto both pastry pieces and spread out leaving a border around the edge. 

4.  Sprinkle on the cheese then top with the Championship Boerewors.

5.  Brush the edges with egg, then fold over to encase the filling, use a fork to crimp and seal the edge. 

6. Then cut into desired sizes and place onto a lined baking tray. 

7. Brush each roll with egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds then bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for 25 – 30 minutes until pastry is golden, and the sausage is cooked through.

• 1 pack Championship Boerewors

•  1 jar of Forage and Feast Caramelised Onion Cheese Topper

•  1 roll frozen puff pastry; defrosted

•   ½ cup cheddar cheese; grated

•   1 Simple Truth Free-Range Egg; beaten

•    2 tbsp. sesame seeds
