Loaded Plant-Based Roosterkoek by Zola Nene is a great addition to your veggie braai platter this Heritage Day – and don’t be surprised if they’re grabbed by the meat lovers too!

Simply braai your chicken-style pieces until they’re golden-brown on the outside, then load them into our Garlic and Herb Ready to Braai Roosterkoek with some fresh ingredients and a bit of chutney. Directions

1. Roughly slice the chicken-style pieces and set aside.

2. Cut open the roosterkoek to reveal the garlic butter in the middle. 

3. Top the roosterkoek with sliced plant-based chicken, avo slices, spring onion, jalepeños, and chutney or chipotle, then close the roosterkoek to form a sandwich.

4. Serve warm or cold with a scattering of micro herbs. 

5. We suggest serving platter-style alongside other plant-based or braai options, with a cocktail each.

  • 4 x Ready to Braai Roosterkoek (1 pack)
  • 250g Simple Truth Vegan Chicken-Style Pieces
  • 2 x Ripe & Ready Avocados; sliced
  • ¼ cup Simple Truth Fruit Chutney or Chipotle Sauce 
  • Jalapeños for extra colour; optional
  • Fresh spring onion
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Micro herbs for serving
