Try this quick winter meal today. All the ingredients are conveniently available in-store at Checkers and for delivery by Sixty60.

Directions

    1. Drizzle steak with olive oil and season with salt, then fry on both sides in a hot pan until golden (about 2 minutes on each side).
    2. Remove from the pan and set aside.
    3. In the same pan, add 2 tbsp. butter, garlic and pepper, then sauté over low heat until the garlic softens.
    4. In a bowl, whisk together cornflour, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce and sugar, then pour into the pan with the garlic. Bring to a simmer, then leave to cook for 5 minutes.
    5. Slice the steak, then add to the sauce and stir to coat in the sauce.
    6. Spread garlic aioli on each slice of bread, then turn over (aioli side down – the aioli side becomes the outside of the sandwich).
    7. Butter the other side of the bread and sprinkle with cheese.
    8. Spoon pepper steak onto each half of a sandwich, then top with the other cheesy slice.
    9. Place into the air fryer at 180 °C for 5 minutes. The bread should be toasted and golden and the cheese oozy and melted.
